We're excited that 2017 is shaping up to be an incredible year, where even more people living with dementia get access to the outdoors, to connect to nature, themselves and their communities. To kick off the year, here is a brief word from our new Chair of Trustees - John Barnes.
“Dementia Adventure has grown from the seed of an idea planted by founders Neil Mapes and Lucy Harding who lead our amazing team. Following Bhavna Emery-Jones excellent lead I have recently taken on the role of Chair at Dementia Adventure, which fills me with excitement at being able to work with such a fantastic team of people, and pride when reviewing our progress and successes over the last year. More people living with dementia and their family carers directly benefitted from our increased range of specially designed holiday breaks last year, which was our most successful to date. But we have also contributed to the growing evidence base which underpins our work and published research about these benefits and provided a wide range of training and support to innovative organisations in diverse sectors, such as Natural England, Wildlife Trusts and Care Farming UK to Abbeyfield Society, Provide CIC and a number of local authorities. Dementia Adventure continues to grow as a registered charity thanks to support from Players of People’s Postcode Lottery and we welcome you to join us on the adventure as we reach and benefit more people with dementia and challenge how living with dementia is understood.”
