Job Description

Dementia Adventure is a small, progressive and innovative charity specialisiing in helping people with dementia and the people who care about them to have more contact with nature and the outdoors for all the benefits that brings. 

We are lookng for a special person to strategically manage and co-ordinate our social media channels, and to ensure we reach our target audiences and provide engaging content that aligns with our charity objectives and the various department activities. In addition, you will manage our in-house PR programme and work with external PR agencies. Working as part of a small, flexible team, you will provide support when required in other areas of the Marketing department.

Salary:

£11,500 (0.4 FTE - subject to review)

Key Relationships:

Internal – Head of Marketing, PR and Communications, Communications Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Fundraising Manager, Head of Business Development & Innovation. External – Funders, partner organisations, press and media.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Social Media
  • Work with colleagues in the marketing department and across the organisation to keep the social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) up to date and relevant.
  • Write engaging content, monitor events and information that is relative to our audience, advise on engaging content that the organisation can develop.
  • Reflect current campaigns, promote events, develop digital campaigns, write articles, and organise new audio and visual content.
  • Engage and communicate with our supporters to manage our reputation and profile and to support our fundraising and marketing activities.
  • Monitor and analyse partner and related organisations’ social media activity to identify opportunities and improve online presence.
  • Be strategic in managing our social media channels and campaigns. Evaluate and analyse social media and digital activity and prepare a regular report to evaluate our effectiveness, our ROI and evaluate paid for social media advertising and online digital marketing opportunities.
  • Continually develop creative ideas for all social media channels and maximise traffic to our website by using the latest social media and digital tools.
  • Monitor and manage expenditure for advertising in line with agreed budgets for departments.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure there is an integrated approach to our communications. Contribute to the content marketing strategy, and the organisational external communications and engagement strategy.
  • PR and other marketing duties
  • Manage our media planning organisation of media lists and contacts.
  • Write engaging content/press releases and ensure we hit our various internal and funders PR targets.
  • Ensure positive press coverage in the local, national and international media.
  • Track and record media coverage.
  • Work with outside PR agencies.
  • Provide support to marketing campaigns and content creation.
  • Write content for digital and printed material.
  • Support client and networking events as and when required and assist the marketing department with event coordination.
  • Support other members of the Marketing, PR and Comms team as and when needed.
  • Occasional travel to off-site events and venues.
  • Administrative Work
  • Use the Insightly CRM system for contacts to manage partner communications and reporting.
  • Keep up to date timesheets to track projects and individual budgets.

Person Specification:

You should should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Experience

  • Prior experience gained within a marketing environment - 2 years minimum professional experience working in digital marketing.
  • A broad understanding of digital/social media platforms and have experience in strategy and integration with marketing and comms.
  • Experience of working with regional and national press and media 

Communication Skills

  • The ability to write professional and engaging social media content.
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading ability. High attention to detail.

Interpersonal Skills

  • To be able to form good working relationships with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to enable you to achieve your goals and to promote and enhance the reputations of Dementia Adventure.
  • Well-presented and professional.
  • Confident in meeting all types of people at events and exhibitions.

Organisational Skills

  • To be able to plan and organise your own workload, and manage your time, being highly self-motivated.
  • To be able to set up and maintain effective and appropriate systems for the management of your - and others - work.
  • To be highly skilled and experienced in project planning

Team Working

  • To be a key part of a small team marketing team, contributing to and influencing how the department works and extending the reach and effectiveness of Dementia Adventure.

Information & Communication Technology Skills

  • Solid IT skills - knowledge of all key social media platforms and associated digital tool sets, web CMS, Microsoft Office Suite

1st Interviews will take place 21/22 Feb with a second interview for successful candidates on the 28th Feb at Old Park Farm. The successful candidate will hopefully start early April 2018.
